Having only heard not great things about this film and having failed to finish this film on one prior attempt, on a whim I decided to complete Ghost in the Shell. This film is set in a sci-fi future where the main character “Major” (Scarlett Johanson) has their mind put into an artificial body by a law enforcement agency and is now a powerful weapon used for fighting crime.

If you’ve seen a film with this premise, you probably know where this film is going to go, it doesn’t deviate from that generic plot.

The good is that the film in parts is visually very good, I liked the world aesthetic and the music, but that is where the good ends. The plot and action are generic, the few characters this film has, don’t really have any personality beyond good, bad or neutral; there is no real substance, I shouldn’t have been surprised but I was honestly still a little disappointed. The film starts off decently but after the first 15 minutes it just goes downhill and never recovers.
Score:
Enjoyment: 6.2/10
Critically: 5.5/10
P.S. I would’ve been better off watching the 2014 RoboCop again.
