Moulin Rouge!: Should The Show Go On?

This film reminds me a lot of the Greatest Showman, which I feel was better in several ways. When “Moulin Rouge!” started, for the first 30 minutes I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself in for, but after that I started to enjoy the film a lot more and was captivated by how there didn’t feel to be any wasted moments: everything had a purpose that drove characters or the plot forward in some way. Some of the music covers I found a little uninspired, though some of the music was good. The original music wasn’t as memorable as the greatest showman.

For me the most memorable thing about Moulin Rouge! were the performances, as Nicole Kidman is outstanding, I enjoyed Jim Broadbent’s characterisation and John Leguizamo surprised me with how immersed they were in the role.

Wacky in parts but a heartwarming tale.
